Speak for Health Advocacy Bootcamp
We’re calling on all public health students who want to take action, change the direction of our country and build a better public health system through advocacy. Join APHA's Speak for Health in Washington, DC for a 2-day bootcamp training tailored to public health students on how to be an effective public health advocate. We'll cover the basics of how to advocate for evidence-based public health policies, including how to message your issue, how to amplify your advocacy with social media and how to influence your representatives. On day two, students will have the opportunity to hone their advocacy skills on Capitol Hill. Students will learn to Speak for Health and join APHA's movement to be the voice for public health. Students will leave this bootcamp with the skills to: Message public health issues to policymakers Set up and lead a meeting with lawmakers and staff on Capitol Hill Discuss complex health policy topics in plain language Build support for public health issues through social media and communications Take direct action on health topics that matter to them Registration for this event is closed.
