Nancy Pearl - George and Lizzie
With the publication of Book Lust, Pearl became “America’s Librarian.” She went on to win Library Journal’s 2011 Librarian of the Year Award and served as the model for the librarian action figure. Now she makes her fiction debut with a novel about a marriage. George and Lizzie grew up with radically different ideas of family. George’s loving parents followed traditional gender-defined roles while Lizzie’s parents competed with each other and both put their careers first. As the years go by, George is content, but Lizzie feels something is missing, and when a long-repressed secret surfaces, so does her dissatisfaction, and the couple at last confronts what they have to do to make their marriage work for both of them.
