Feeling the presence of God is often as much about being in the present moment as it is about recognizing the presence of the Holy. For some of us, much of our day is spent worrying about the past or thinking about the future, rather than being present in the here and now. Join us every third Sunday afternoon to learn how to be present, quiet and attentive.   A variety of mindfulness practices including sitting, movement, and loving kindness meditations engender peace and well-being, leading to greater clarity and concentration. Research has also shown that mindfulness meditation decreases anxiety, depression, and pain. Teaching and conversation about your experience and insights are interspersed with the meditations. Learn how to develop a daily practice, integrating mindfulness into your everyday life.     Teacher Meredith McEver is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in helping children and adults reach their full potential through meditation, creativity, and exploration of thoughts and feelings. She had led mindfulness and creativity groups for many organizations including Alexandria Drug Court, Fairfax Hospital Life With Cancer, ADAMS Center Mosque, Fairfax County Schools, Arlington County Violence between Intimate Partners Program, and National Institute of Health
