Join the March on Washington Film Festival, a civil rights legacy project that creates a national platform that brings together history, scholarship, and the arts to tell a more accurate story about the pivotal events and heroes, known and unknown, of the Civil Rights Movement for 2nd Annual Fundraising event, An Evening With Sheryl Lee Ralph, on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at The Studio Theater. The event will feature acclaimed actress, singer, and philanthropist Sheryl Lee Ralph in a one-woman show of storytelling and song. Sheryl Lee Ralph has delighted audiences from the moment she burst onto the scene in her breakthrough role as Deena Jones in the original run of the Broadway hit musical, Dreamgirls, for which she received a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Still active on the stage, she most recently completed a run in the long-running musical, Wicked. Highlights of her film career include appearing in “To Sleep with Anger;” ”The Mighty Quinn;” “The Distinguished Gentleman;” and “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.” Her most recent movie role is in the 2017 film, “Just Getting Started” with Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones. On the small screen, her best known credits include the hit TV shows, Moesha, It’s a Living, Designing Women, and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, among many others. She is also a prolific philanthropist. For 27 years and counting, through her Diva Foundation, Ms. Ralph has produced the longest running fundraising show to support organizations and individuals fighting HIV/AIDS.
