Despite having over a million followers around the world at one time, the story of Father Divine remains largely unknown. During the Great Depression, Divine’s International Peace Mission established a series of cash-only businesses and hotels where anyone in need could live, get food, and find work. He was also a staunch advocate for anti-lynching laws and desegregation, and included them as part of the Mission’s core beliefs. Participants:Rev.
