LEGO Robots and EV3 Programming (FIRST LEGO LEAGUE)
Description Want your child to learn about building LEGO robots and programing them? The coaches and members from Rockville Robotics and Wizards.EXE will be offering a series of EV3 programming training. The goal is to help teams with the robot and EV3 programming environment and to be able to program their robot for the current FIRST LEGO League season. The three session will cover from beginning to advanced topics using real examples and led by team members and coaches from past FLL Championship teams Mindstorm Masterminds, Organized Kaos, and Probemasters. We will also include some tips on building the robot and help with brainstorming strategy. You don't need to be on an FLL team to attend. Sign up for all three session at a reduced price. We recommend a $75-$50 donation per attendee for 3 times 3 hour sessions with the team members getting specialized attention. Three Sunday Afternoon Sessions: September 17th 1:00PM to 4:00PM October 1st 1:00PM to 4:00PM October 15th 1:00PM to 4:00PM Preliminary agenda: Pseudocode and thinking about Autonomous Introduction to the EV3 programming environment Making the robot move straight and simple tasks Turning and spinning Introduction to sensors Learning loops and swtiches Using different sensor to help navigate on the field. Being able to follow a line and line up to a line. Using a Gyro sensor to align the robot. Building attachements and structures with LEGO. This is a hands-on training and we require that you have a Laptop with the EV3 program pre-loaded and a robot with a few sensors. If you don't have a robot, we can loan you a robot for the 5 week period or for the FLL season at a lending price of $50 (this is a separate ticket). We have a limited set of robots and will give preference to teams that do not have enough robots for training. Everyone will work in groups of 2 with assistance from several FLL Alumni and coaches. It may be best to come in groups from a given FLL team. We will be requiring that the students do some work between sessions and share their experiences with others. Space is limted, so please sign up as soon as possible. If two team members are signed up, you may have a coach or parent assist. This event is part of Wizards.exe outreach to the FIRST community, but it is also being used as a fund raising opportunity for our team. Rockville Robotics is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. If due to hardship you're not able to donate for the training, please contact us and we may be able to waive the fee. The training is made possible by our event sponsor Launch Workplaces.
